Quinoa (keen-wah). Ever heard of it? If you are a fellow foodie or health nut, then probably. It is a fairly common grain indigenous to South America that has recently been making a name for itself in the new wave of ever popular superfood diets. Quinoa is packed with essential amino acids like lysine and contains a good quantity of calcium and iron. It is also an excellent source of protein and low in calories, giving dieters its appeal.
